Jamie Toomey, musician and composer.
Jamie Toomey is a Galway based musician with a background in gypsy jazz music. In 2019 he released his debut album Sijo. An eclectic mix of styles, Sijo is inspired by a love of latin music and touches on Argentine Tango, Cuban Bolero, among other styles.
In 2020 Jamie followed Sijo with the release of an EP, Inside. Closer to classical in genre, Inside was recorded alongside ConTempo Quartet and later performed in The Black Gate Cultural Centre as part of the Live Venue Collective.
In 2022 Jamie released his second album, Second Sunlight. Something of a departure in terms of genre, Second Sunlight is an album of songs featuring Jamie on vocals. Due to lockdown some of the instruments on Second Sunlight were recorded remotely by accomplished session musicians around the world. Two of the tracks featured lead vocals from Indonesian singer Syauqi Destanika.
In 2023 Jamie released a 3 track instrumental EP called Flight. The tracks were recorded and filmed alongside ConTempo Quartet in Cuan Studios, Spiddal.
In 2024 Jamie released 3 songs; a jazz influenced version of The Boys are Back in Town featuring Maciek Zaworonek on harp, a single co-written with Tom Pyne called Charlie Bloodmoon and a track featuring Bogdan Sofei (violin) and Adrian Mantu (cello) called from this point on.
